A speedy robot “broke its waist” after sprinting into a wall.
Footage shows the humanoid robot bolting at breakneck speed down an athletics track.
However, after crossing the finish line, it failed to stop and celebrate and instead continued dashing in a straight line, even as the track began to curve.

It slammed into an upright crash mat at speed, sending it toppling backwards.
The robot could then be seen backpedalling, its back arching, before its head slammed into the ground.
Sparks showered from its waist as it landed motionless in a heap on the track, as reported by Whats The Jam.
The bizarre spectacle reportedly unfolded during testing ahead of the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, China.
The Games run from 22–26 August, bringing together 2,056 robots from 666 teams across 16 countries to compete in sports and real-world tasks.

While complex actions such as obstacle navigation and weightlifting still allow human teleoperation, basic tasks such as flat-ground running and football now require full autonomy.
One viewer commented: “Twenty thousand yuan was gone just like that.”

Another joked: “This will be played at the future Robot Museum of Slavery and Torture.”
