A couple has defied a snowstorm to say “I do” during a breathtaking elopement.

Melissa and Devon refused to back down from their plans, despite wind speeds on the day that ranged from 7-15 mph.

The bride and groom had planned a 30-minute hike to reach a scenic spot in Banff National Park, and hired Polish photographers Marcin and Dorota Karpowicz to capture the occasion.

But with the stormy conditions, the photographers offered to postpone or move to a sheltered location – but the bride was adamant that she wanted the day to go ahead.

They trekked up the mountain with their formalwear in backpacks to wed in their dream location of Peyto Lake Viewpoint in the famous Canadian park.

The officiant, Cole Hofstra, was also willing to brave the weather, so, once at the viewpoint, the couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony.

The photographers captured a series of striking images: snow flurries swirling around the bride’s cape, the couple holding hands as the wind whipped across the mountains, and tender moments framed by the dramatic winter landscape.

“Everyone loves those kinds of photos, but only a few have the ability to do it,” Marcin told What’s The Jam.

“You have to carry your wedding outfits in your backpacks, and you never know what kind of weather you’ll face.

“On top of the mountains, it’s almost always windy and cold.

“[Nonetheless], Melissa embarked on the hike in a white long-sleeved gown and fur-lined cape, while Devon followed in a classic black tux.”

Despite the conditions, Melissa and Devon’s adventurous spirit ensured their day, which took place on 10 November, was unforgettable.
