A competition held every year to decide which bear is the fattest has finished and the champion has been crowned.
Chunk 32 received a staggering 96,300 votes for his impressive size.
He weighs in at a massive 1,200 lbs, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Chunk 32 had been the runner-up for two years in a row but was finally able to cinch the crown this year.
Runner-up in 2025 was Bear 856, who managed to sway 63,725 votes.
Held annually since 2014, ‘Fat Bear Week’ is a celebration of the large mammals with 12 bears competing for the title.
It focuses on the resident brown bears in Katmai National Park in Alaska, who lose weight when hibernating and bulk up after waking up for the summer.
Bears require ample body fat for multiple reasons, depending on the animal’s gender and age.

For example, mother bears require a large amount of body fat to both survive hibernation but to also care for their cubs.
Older bears get fatter to compete against younger ones for preferred fishing spots.
Meanwhile younger bears grow more each year as they establish a home range and learn skills to survive in the wild.

Katmai’s brown bears are at their fattest in late summer and early autumn, the result of a summer-long effort to satisfy their profound hunger and prepare for winter.
In short, a fat bear is a successful bear.
