Staff at an animal shelter were left surprised after an unsuspecting kitten turned out to be a wildcat.
The unknowingly feral creature was taken to the Tierheim Bergheim sanctuary, 20 km from Cologne in Germany, but upon closer inspection, it turns out the cute kitten was actually a wildcat, reports What’s The Jam.
The shelter initially shared a post asking for a driver to take the animal to the nearby Retscheider Hof wild animal station.

They then updated users with what went down, as well as the animal’s condition.
They said: “Yesterday there was great excitement for us because a small found cat turned out to be an abandoned wild cat.
“We contacted our nice colleagues from the Retscheider Hof and they immediately agreed to take over the fluffy fur ball.
“A dear animal lover, who had read our post about it immediately agreed to transport the kitten there.
“After handing it over, she sent us this photo with the message that everything went well and the little cat is in the very best, expert hands.”
