An ultra-rare hyper-car capable of hitting 0–60mph in just 2.2 seconds has sold for nearly £5million at auction.
The 2024 Bugatti Bolide – one of just 40 ever made – fetched $4,955,000 (around £3.7m) when it went under the hammer with RM Sotheby’s.
Built as a track-only machine, the Bolide represents the final evolution of Bugatti’s legendary quad-turbo W16 engine.

The powerhouse produces a staggering 1,578 horsepower, allowing it to reach a top speed of 236mph, reports Whats The Jam.
Performance is further boosted by its lightweight carbon fibre construction, which makes it more than 1,100lbs lighter than a standard Bugatti Chiron.
The result is a car capable of going from 0–186mph in just 11.5 seconds – figures more commonly associated with top-tier racing cars.
Designed purely for the circuit, the Bolide is not road legal and is instead engineered to deliver extreme performance on track.
Bugatti says the car generates up to 2.5G in cornering force and more than 5,800lbs of downforce, putting it in the same league as professional endurance race cars.

This particular example was built for a single owner and has covered just 77 miles – all of which are factory test mileage.
It features a striking blue-tinted carbon fibre exterior with Agile Blue accents, alongside a bespoke interior trimmed in blue Alcantara with contrasting detailing.
The sale, which took place in Miami, Florida, USA, also included a number of accessories, such as custom Bugatti flight cases, spare wheels, a car cover and a tool kit.

With production limited to just 40 units worldwide, the Bolide marks the end of an era for Bugatti, as the brand moves away from its iconic W16 engine.
