A toddler was rushed to hospital after swallowing her mum’s diamond ring.

The 15-month-old girl became unwell after ingesting the jewellery.

Her mother lost her diamond ring earlier that day and became concerned after her daughter began vomiting, which lasted 11 hours.

With the ring nowhere to be found, the mum rushed her tot into A&E in Qingdao, China, for doctors to take a closer look, reports What’s The Jam.

Examining the baby, they found no physical symptoms to indicate the problem.

After an X-ray, the diamond ring was found in the child’s abdomen.

Doctors decided to remove it, as they were worried the diamond could be potentially dangerous to the baby.

It would also be difficult to pass it naturally without any complications.

After performing surgery under general anaesthetic, the ring was successfully removed.

The girl was reported to have recovered well.

It’s reported that ingestion of foreign objects in children is most common between the ages of one to three.

Small, smooth objects may be passed without any complications.

Even if the affected child has no symptoms, removal should be considered as early as possible.
