A single fisherman hooked a huge 44-stone tuna fish – and is now hoping to reel in a “sweet and nice” girlfriend.

Marcus Rostad sold the huge fish to multiple sushi restaurants for £2,241.

He caught it while enjoying a boat trip with his dad.

The 31-year-old, who produces liver pâté for the food firm Stabburet, said it took nearly three hours to reel in the fish.

He caught Atlantic bluefin tuna off the coast of Måløy in south-western Norway.

The single angler said it weighed 44 stone (280kg).

He added, “There was a lot of adrenaline when the bluefin was hooked.

“Action and excitement from the moment he bit until we had him back in the boat.”

Marcus told What’s The Jam that the fish was caught with a “normal but strong fishing rod”, which he has a permit for.

The keen angler, who lives in Sarpsborg, was visiting his dad when he caught the tuna.

He said: “The conditions were pretty good, beautiful weather.

“I was there as a helper, but I was the one who got him on the hook and reeled him in.

“The fish took the bait, and several hundred metres of line flew off the reel.

“After struggling a bit, he swam towards the boat and wanted to swim underneath us.

“We had to steer very hard to avoid trapping the line.”

He added: “The size is a personal record, but not unusual for the fish.”

Marcus now hopes he can snag a lover.

The single angler said, “Some people said I should include my marital status.

“It would be nice to be with someone who loves fishing.”

He added, “I’m looking for someone sweet and nice, who’d like to go on a fishing trip now and then.”
