The original costume worn by Christopher Reeve in Superman is set to hit the block in an auction of movie-used props.

The Film Memorabilia collection goes live on the 28 October, in what has been described a “tightly curated capsule auction”.

What’s The Jam reports Reeve’s legendary costume is expected to sell for up to £600,000 ($800,000).

The outfit was worn in three of the movies that Reeve starred in: Superman, Superman II and Superman III.

Christopher Reeve’s original Superman costume is expected to fetch up to £600,000 at Sotheby’s New York auction, alongside iconic props from Star Wars, Iron Man and James Bond.

“The costume on offer here is rare not only because it is one of the few head-to-toe complete costumes to have ever come to market, but also because the pieces were screen-worn by Reeve across not one, but the first three films,” said Sotheby’s.

“The present tunic was fabricated and labelled for Superman III, the present trunks and leggings were fabricated for Superman II, and the cape was fabricated and labelled for Superman I and then repurposed for Superman II.”

Not into Lycra? The auction house also has other incredible items up for sale.

It is composed of painted moulded fibreglass and is expected to sell for between £37, 500- £45,000 ($50,000 – $60,000).

Other auction highlights include a production-used practical Iron Man helmet for Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark for approximately £37,500 – £60,000 ($50,000 – $80,000).
