The highly sought-after Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, capable of reaching 219mph, is currently on the market for a staggering £2.7 million.

This exclusive model is one of only 75 ever produced, making it a rare gem in the automotive world. Equipped with a formidable 641 bhp, 5.4-litre supercharged AMG V-8 engine, this sleek silver two-seater can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in a mere 3.5 seconds.

Inspired by Sir Stirling Moss’ legendary victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia endurance race, its design pays homage to a historic moment in motorsport history.

Despite its rarity and impressive performance, with just 5,737 miles on the odometer – averaging a mere 382 miles per year – this exceptional vehicle has tripled in value since its initial sale price of £780,000. Currently being auctioned by RM Sotheby’s, the guide price for this exceptional machine stands at £2.7 million.

However, potential buyers should note a couple of drawbacks: the car lacks both a windscreen and a roof. Originally delivered to Luxembourg, it later found its way to the Middle East.

According to a spokesperson from Sotheby’s, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss made its debut at the 2009 North American International Auto Show.

Described as a lightweight speedster variant of the SLR, it offers both impressive performance and striking aesthetics.

With only 75 units produced, it was exclusively offered to existing SLR owners as a modern tribute to the iconic 300 SLR that Sir Stirling Moss famously drove to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia.

Much like its predecessor, the SLR Stirling Moss prioritizes performance and driving pleasure over creature comforts, sacrificing elements such as the windscreen and roof for a more intense driving experience.

Powered by a 641 brake horsepower, 5.4-litre supercharged AMG V-8 engine, similar to the one found in the SLR 722 Edition, and featuring a weight reduction of 200 kilograms achieved through the use of carbon fibre bodywork and aerodynamic enhancements, this model promises unparalleled performance.

Renowned as one of the most remarkable supercars of the 21st century, the SLR Stirling Moss offers a driving experience like no other.

The upcoming auction for this extraordinary vehicle is scheduled to take place in Dubai on 9 March. This article is featured on What’sTheJam.
