A new zoo that only showcases cows has opened its doors to the public.

Owners of the bovine menagerie decided to ditch scary predators and thrill-seeking activities for local cow breeds and a pleasant bike ride around the paddocks.

Owned by animal lovers Alicia and Carlos del Amo García, the zoo houses 32 breeds of cows, oxen, and calves.

The siblings, aged 33 and 30 respectively, called the zoo “unique.”

The 17-hectare park is located in the small municipality of Villagarcía de Campos, home to just 300 residents and less than an hour’s drive from Valladolid, Spain.

Named Bos Taurozos, the zoo combines the Bos taurus species with Montes Torozos, the area where the park is located.

The zoo includes cattle breeds found in Spain and Portugal, including the Galician cachena, Andalusian Black cattle, and the White Cáceres, among many others, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The park is divided into 10 areas named after rivers in the Iberian Peninsula, such as the Miño, Douro, Ebro, Guadalquivir, and the Tagus.

The owners organised the breeds into different zones to demonstrate how they’re distributed throughout the peninsula.

Alicia said: “We decided to start this business because we believe there are many breeds that are being lost and people don’t even know they exist.

“Many people don’t know we have so many breeds with very different characteristics.”

Visitors to Bos Taurozos can also enjoy a free bicycle service and activities such as archery, horseback riding, and paintballing.

It only costs £8.70 (€10) for adults and £6.95 (€8) for children.

And toddlers enter free of charge.
