A mountain guide got a bird’s-eye view of a huge volcano erupting for the first time in 500 years.
Artem Sheldovitsky stood at the foot of the mountain as ash clouds filled the sky.
The 34-year-old then took to the air in a helicopter to view the breathtaking eruption from above.

The huge plumes of smoke stretched almost four miles into the sky.
Artem was leading tourists through the valley when a loud cracking sound caught their attention.
The guide watched on in awe as gas propelled out of the ancient volcano.
The mind-blowing footage was captured at the Krasheninnikov volcano in Kronotsky Nature Reserve, Russia.
The last recorded eruption took place in the 15th century.

This one was reportedly caused by huge earthquakes in the area.
The video was captured around 08:30 am on Sunday (3 Aug).
“I was shocked and could not believe my eyes that it was Krashennikov volcano,” Artem, from Moscow, told What’s The Jam.

“We flew by helicopter from the Tumroki boat to the Valley of Geysers.
“We, together with the leading tourists of the Snow Valley, contemplated this phenomenon together and were shocked.
“The day before, we were on Klyuchevskaya Sopka and could not see the eruption due to dense clouds on the volcano.”
