A zoo has sparked fury by unveiling two dogs dressed as pandas as their latest attraction.
The new residents drew large crowds during their debut on 1 May 2024.
The Chow Chows, a spitz-type dog originally from northern China, were allegedly dyed by zookeepers to look like panda bears.

The dogs’ fur was trimmed short before black and white dye was added to their face and body.
The zoo said they presented the “panda dogs” since they don’t have any of the actual animals for visitors to see at Taizhou Zoo in Jiangsu Province, China.
Images of the exhibit were shared on social media, with locals accusing the zoo of animal cruelty.
However, a local pet beautician said natural dyes are suitable for most pets, but to avoid any products with chemicals, as reported by What’s The Jam.
A zoo spokesperson said in response: “People also dye their hair.

“Natural dye can be used on dogs if they have long fur.
“There are no panda bears at the zoo and we wanted to do this as a result.
“A lot of people are coming to visit them and you need to queue up.
