Harry Potter’s arch nemesis, Draco Malfoy, has become the unexpected face of the Chinese New Year in a bizarre trend.
The slimy Slytherin member played by Tom Felton in the iconic movies has become the mascot of the Lunar New Year, which takes place on 17 Feb.
Pictures of the actor’s face as Malfoy are reportedly being hung up in Chinese households, while websites flog similar decor online.

The character’s sudden rise in popularity is due to the Chinese translation of Malfoy, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Ma-er-fu contains the words horse and fortune in Chinese – which is perfect for the upcoming Year of the Horse.

It is tradition for many households to decorate their homes with fuzi, which are red square papers with the Chinese word for prosperity printed on them.
The items up for sale range from squares with Tom Felton’s face to larger posters with the actor’s head on a stickman’s body.
Members of the public have been left in stitches by the decorations.
