Vintage BBC radio equipment has been listed for auction – including old light-boxes, microphones, and panel boards.

The old-school equipment is expected to fetch thousands of pounds.

Other bizarre items include an old wall-mounted ashtray from the broadcasting house and a serving tea tray set.

An original 1970’s ‘ on air’ lightbox from one of the BBC studios is set to fetch £300.

The 55cm tall box has “BBC Radio OB’s London” etched on the soft cover.

An original panel board from a ‘Type B’ broadcasting console has also gone under the hammer.

It is thought that this console was used in studio ‘8A’ at the broadcasting house.

The equipment is used to mix audio.It has a number of switches and control knobs on the front.

At the back, a large amount of exposed wires are visible.

It is expected to sell for £400.

The listing reads: “An original BBC used panel board from a ‘Type B’ broadcasting console.

“As per info tag affixed to item this console was used in studio ‘8A’ at Broadcasting House.

“Unit measures approx 84cm across, 37cm tall, 34cm deep.”

A vintage STC 4038 microphone is also up for sale.

It is expected to sell for a staggering £300.

It still has the original ‘BBC Radio’ sticker affixed.

A GE6SM / 574 Network Clock Generator used by the BBC to keep time across broadcasts is also up for auction.

According to a sticker on the clock, its last electrical test was 34 years ago on 18 September 1990.

An original mid-century brass ashtray, originally wall mounted at Broadcasting House is expected to sell for £80.

The ashtray has the word “ashes” printed across it.

A number of vinyl collections are also up for sale.

They are expected to rake in £250 each.

There are 47 lots in total.
