It is one of less than ten left on the planet.
They stopped being produced due to a fault being spotted.
It was only expected to fetch as little as £60 when it went under the hammer.
But it was snapped up for the colossal fee when it was sold by auctioneers Ewbanks.
It was the top car in a set of six other die-cast vehicles.

The listing reads: “It has been suggested that the red Vauxhall Victor may have been repainted.
“I would suggest first hand inspection to satisfy yourself to the condition of the item.”
A spokesperson for Ewbank’s, based in Woking, Surrey, said: “A design fault meant that this Type A design was immediately withdrawn and replaced by a Type B design that added bracing under the bonnet.

“Exactly how many of these first issue red versions survive is uncertain, but at least one specialist dealer some decades ago claimed it was fewer than ten.
“As such, it was an enthusiast’s dream.
“Offered here together with five other models, including a speed boat, caravan and dump truck, all with their original boxes, it left a modest estimate of £60 and 100 far behind to take a premium-inclusive £3,380.”
A Hot Wheels Mighty Maverick from 1970 sold for £2,340 in the same auction which took place last Wednesday (Nov 13), as reported on What’s The Jam.
It had only been expected to fetch £100 – 23 times less than the sale price.
It was the main toy car in a bundle of others.
“These were incredible prices and show just how keen collectors of die-cast models are to secure the rarest and best items,” said Ewbank’s specialist Simon Garner.
