A road-legal WWII armoured vehicle complete with a massive gun turret has gone on sale for £65,000.

The 1942 White M16 Half-Track Multiple Gun Motor Carriage is now searching for a new owner, offering a slice of military history on wheels.

The beast is armed to the teeth, fitted with four .50-cal Browning M2 machine guns in an M45 quad-mount at the rear – the same fearsome setup used to mow down enemy aircraft and infantry during the war.

The M16 Half-Track played a key role in Allied victories across Europe, including the liberation of Italy.

After WWII, it went on to serve with both US and South Korean forces during the Korean War.

Retired in 1958, surviving examples later became stars of the screen, including an appearance in the 1983 Chuck Norris and David Carradine flick Lone Wolf McQuade.

Weighing a colossal 10 tonnes and powered by a six-cylinder petrol engine, the gun-toting monster is surprisingly road legal, capable of reaching 42mph, as reported by Whats The Jam.

Its engine produces 128 horsepower.

First registered with the DVLA in 1987, this particular model is now on its seventh owner.

The US Army Half-Track is set to roll into the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedford, with bidding opening on 3 December.

A spokesperson for H&H Classics said: “Our example was first registered with the D.V.L.A. in 1987 and is now with its seventh British keeper, following a notable period of long-term ownership from 1999 to 2018, during which it was comprehensively restored.

“The Maxson turret is said to work as it should, and the guns are very accurate reproductions.

“Discreet indicators have been fitted for road use, and included in the sale are radio antennae, service history, invoices and maintenance manuals, plus spares such as spark plugs, points and condensers.

“Presents excellently, and both running and driving very well during the recent photography session, this M16 is ready for appearances at a host of events next year.”
