Rare comic books up to 60 years old are set to sell for up to £800 each despite being tatty.

Over 337 are going under the hammer at the same time.

The most valuable of the lots is the first-ever Marvel comic starring Daredevil in his trademark yellow costume.

It dates back to 1964, but it has suffered some damage.

The listing reads: “Chip out left bottom of back cover, creasing to cover.

“Small amount of glue on the spine.

“Staining to cover.”

It is the prize lot in the Ewbank’s Comics Auction which takes place on 4 April.

It has an estimate of up to £800.

An Incredible Hulk comic, from 1974, is expected to attract bids of up to £500.

But it is also damaged, with the description reading: “Wear all corners.

“Cover breaks colour.”

The first Iron Man comic, which came out in 1968, is tipped to sell for £200.

But it has to be restored.

“Restoration includes a small amount of colour touch on cover, spine stress lines, all three edges trimmed,” the listing reads.

Others for sale in mint condition include another Marvel favourite, Werewolf, from 1975, set to be bought for £600.

A Spider-Man one from the previous year is going for the same price, as reported on What’s The Jam.

The description states: “Complete without cut coupons or missing pages.”

Finally, a DC Batman comic, which is from 1970, is likely to go for up to £300.

The action takes place in Woking, Surrey.
