A pint-loving punter has put together what could be the UK’s largest beer glass collection boasting well over 200 glasses.

Damian Bardell has spent the last two-and-a-half years filing a huge cabinet in his garage with them from boozers all over the globe.

His collection is worth over £1,000 and features priceless glasses that are no longer made.

The 56-year-old, of Doncaster started this hobby after buying a book named 1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die by Adrian Tierney-Jones.

The book inspired him to start collecting branded glasses of some of his favourite beverages on the planet.

His hobby sees him travel across the world visiting countries including Spain, Portugal, and Cyprus.

Damian is quite strict on his collection stating that all of his glasses must be either purchased or gifted to him with none being taken from pubs without permission.

Charity shops also provide quite the inspiration for finding more rare glasses to add to the collection.

With the collection growing rapidly, Damian was forced to move it into his garage after it got too big to keep inside his house, with a third cabinet in the works.

He also keeps on top of the maintenance of the collection doing a routine wash of the shelves.

Beer blogger Damian – who calls himself The English Beer Gentlemen – told What’s The Jam: “The correct glass with the right beer is just so important.

“It all started two-and-a-half years ago after I bought the book.

“Adrian Tierney-Jones is a legend in the beer world.

“It all took off from there, I pride myself on the fact that beer has to be in the right glass.

“The collection is priceless, some glasses can’t be replaced.

“Estimate it will be at least £1,000 but a lot of the glasses are not made anymore so you would be unable to replace them.

“They are from all over the world.

“In my most recent trip, I went to Barcelona specifically for the beer festival, I got gifted a glass there and also picked up a few from the breweries I visited as well.

“None of them are stolen, some of them you buy, and some of them are gifted to you.

“Most breweries once they realise who you are and how strong you are on social media they just gift them to you.

“The collection used to be in the house but I’ve now had to move them to the garage and I’m very close to adding a third cabinet.

“I think my friend Cam is the only one who appreciates it, everybody else out of my family and friends just raise their eyebrows at it.”
