He kept it until 1966 after modifying it with quad headlamps in 1962.

It is understood that the Continental had covered 8,000 miles when Sellers became its second owner.
He had the Bentley maintained by Jack Barclay reportedly with no expense spared, as reported by Whats The Jam.
Its listing says: “It is interesting to note that the Sellers car’s quad head lamps pre-date those of the later S3 models styled by Vilhelm Koren.

“Jack Barclay dealt with multiple warranty claims and undertook modifications such as the ‘smoke glass mirror with longer arm, allowing you full movement of the sun visor’, which is still in place today.

“The last of Jack Barclay’s copy invoices is dated October 1962 at 16,387 miles and mentions retrimming the back seat.
“Subsequently Sellers had the Bentley looked after by the late Richard Williams, the famous Aston Martin specialist.

“Sellers was notorious for getting bored with his cars and quickly moving them on but, unusually, kept his Bentley Continental for the best part of five years.

“The car was registered to its third owner, G S Edgson of the Wardour Development Co Ltd, London W1 on 12th July 1966.
The history file contains numerous bills for subsequent general servicing and maintenance but no evidence of a major restoration.

“It appears that the hood and carpets have been replaced, but otherwise the Bentley seems very much as it must have been when Peter Sellers owned it.
“During recent years this unique Bentley Continental has formed part of the world’s largest collection of Bentley S3 Continentals and Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud IIIs and is now in need of recommissioning or possibly more extensive restoration.”
The motor comes with a mounted and signed photograph of Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau.

The sale also includes an original 1963 movie poster for ‘The Wrong Arm of the Law’.
An original 1960 12″ mono LP ‘Best of The Goon Shows, Vol. 2’.
A copy of an original September 1967 edition of ABC Film Review magazine with feature on Sellers in ‘The Bobo’.

As well as a quantity of original press cuttings relating to Peter Sellers.
It is being sold by Bonhams at Chichester, West Sussex, on Saturday, (13 Sept).
It has a guide price of £100,000 to £120,000.
Sellers was famous for The Goon Show and for film roles, most notably as Chief Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther series.
He also played multiple roles in Stanley Kubrick’s 1964 film Dr Strangelove.
