A major supermarket has confirmed it is recruiting more than 450 store assistants across the UK, with no formal qualifications or degree required.
Aldi is looking for hundreds of new recruits as it continues its nationwide expansion, with plans to open around 40 new stores during 2026 as part of a £370 million investment programme.
Successful applicants will earn £13.50 an hour nationally or £14.88 an hour at stores inside the M25, regardless of age.

The rates are above the current National Living Wage of £12.71 an hour, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Pay also rises with length of service to £14.47 an hour nationally and £15.20 an hour within the M25.
Most store assistants work 25 hours a week, although Aldi is offering contracts ranging from 10 to 40 hours.
As well as competitive pay, successful applicants will receive 28 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays, access to Aldi’s discounted health cash plan, savings on gym memberships, discounted cinema tickets and money off holidays.

Aldi also says it remains the only major supermarket to offer paid breaks to all colleagues, a benefit it estimates is worth around £1,500 a year to the average store employee.

Applicants do not need any formal qualifications to apply.
Instead, Aldi says it is looking for people who are friendly, positive, hardworking and comfortable working with numbers.
Kelly Stokes, Recruitment Director at Aldi UK, said: “Whether you’re looking for your first role in retail or a fresh start, Aldi offers market-leading pay, excellent training and real opportunities to build your career.

The recruitment drive comes as Aldi continues to expand its UK footprint, with dozens of new stores planned over the coming year.
