A lucky Brit gripped by World Cup fever has bagged a gigantic England flag – that’s as wide as three-and-a-half Peter Crouch’s lay down.

With the Three Lions’ first match at the tournament fast approaching, the nation will be decking out pubs, homes and cars with the iconic St George’s Cross.

Fortunately for Malcolm ‘Smudger’ Smith, he will be able to drape the front of his entire house in the national flag.

The competition entrant was announced as the winner of the huge 24ft wide and 12ft high England flag.

The prized item described as a “monster” was won on 8 Jun, as reported by Whats The Jam.

The giveaway was held by Newton Newton Flags LTD in Burgh le Marsh, Skegness.

To give supporters an idea of the size of the St George’s Cross, it is as long as three-and-a-half Peter Crouch’s lying down – or as high as two Dan Burns stacked on top of one another.

It’s safe to say that Malcolm’s home will be the talk of the town when he hoists the gigantic item.

A spokesperson for Newton Newton Flags LTD said: “The team has been picked… and once again, the hope of a nation rests on those famous Three Lions shirts.

“For a few unforgettable weeks, the country will come together like nothing else matters.

“Pubs packed shoulder to shoulder, gardens filled with friends and family, flags hanging from every window, and millions holding their breath with every kick of the ball.

“1966 gave us history.

“Now, 60 years later… let 2026 become the new 1966.

“The anthem of the summer will once again be ‘It’s Coming Home’ and we want to see England backed in the biggest way possible.

“So we’re giving away a huge England flag – and when I say huge, I mean huge.

“The flag will be digitally printed and professionally finished with eyelets every 12”/1ft/30cm around all four sides.”

Brits across the nation are getting in the mood for the World Cup and whilst Malcolm’s house will feature a gigantic flag – plenty of pubs will also be redecorating.

That includes England’s most patriotic pub who have built a giant grandstand for hundreds of fans to watch the World Cup this summer.

Paul Sandford has built it at The Railway Tavern.

It cost him over £6,000 and holds around 400 people.

There’s room for others to gather round it too, allowing over 700 people to watch the Three Lions in authentic stadium style.

A firm of scaffolders built the feature dubbed a World Cup super grandstand.

And it took them over a week.

The pub is located in Dereham, Norfolk.

It has a VIP area with table service and an American theme.

“I’ve had interest from all over the country,” said Paul.

“Loads of people want to come and watch the games here.

“We’re already fully booked up.

“It’s really exciting.

“This is going to be the ultimate place to watch England this summer.

“It will be a festival of football.”
