A classic 1964 Aston Martin, a favourite of James Bond, is up for auction in Berkshire.
The DB5 is a British grand tourer, produced by Aston Martin and designed by Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria.
One of the most desirable classic cars in existence, the DB5 made its 007 silver screen debut in Goldfinger and returned in Thunderball a year later in 1965.

This model, in stylish sage green with dark green leather interior, was manufactured in 1964 and is on of just 887 ever made, as reported by What’s The Jam.
With a top speed in excess of 150mph, 4.0 litre, straight-six engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, it comes with a photographic record of restoration.
The flash motor is being sold at auction by Sotheby’s Sealed with an estimate of £425,000 – £475,000.
A spokesperson for the auctioneers said: “The model was a popular choice among celebrities with former keepers including Sir Paul McCartney, Peter Sellers, and rockers Mick Jagger and Robert Plant.
“This elegant California Sage example was delivered new to Aston Martin dealer Brooklands of Bond Street on 26 October 1964––confirmed via correspondence in the history with Aston Martin Lagonda.

“The firm’s dealer sticker is still attached to the rear window and, according to the documentation, this DB5 visited the dealer’s then-newly opened service/parts department on 28 Wellington Road, St John’s Wood, London for a ‘timing chain mod’ on 13 May 1965.”
An email chain in the car’s history file records correspondence between Graham Searle, founder and former General Manager of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club, and dealer Auto-Kinetic, in which Graham outlines what’s known of the car’s history.
The auctioneers claim the car was sold to its second owner in South Africa, where it remained until 1991, before returning to the UK.

Owned by the vendor since 2007, the car’s condition today reflects an excellent level of care and typifies a 1960’s dream machine.
