The iconic jokes printed inside McVitie’s Penguin biscuit wrappers are being turned into a book by major publisher Penguin Books.
Brits will have the chance to get their hands on one of 3,000 limited-edition copies through a new supermarket promotion.
The Book of Penguin Jokes will bring the famous one-liners from wrappers to bookshelves for the first time.

Penguin Books has joined forces with McVitie’s Penguin biscuits to create the collectable A5 hardback, which will also include new jokes commissioned especially for the release, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Celebrated children’s author and former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen has written the foreword.
The two companies said the partnership was designed to encourage families to enjoy reading and laughing together as part of the National Year of Reading 2026.
It is the first time the two famous British Penguin brands have collaborated.
The release will also mark the first hardback tri-band publication in Penguin Books’ more than 90-year history.

Among the jokes featured in the book is: “Why did the penguin use a fish as a bookmark? She didn’t want to lose her plaice.”
Another asks: “Why do penguins get homesick?” before answering: “There’s snow place like home.”
Other jokes include: “What did mummy penguin say as her kids left for school? Have an ice day, dears.”

Football fans are also catered for with: “How did the penguin cheat at football? He was always diving.”
The collection also asks: “What do you call a penguin who can’t stop smiling?” with the answer: “A pen-grin.”
McVitie’s Penguin biscuits have been a British lunchbox favourite since 1932 and have long been known for the jokes hidden inside their wrappers.
The new publication will combine those familiar punchlines with a selection of previously unseen jokes.
A total of 3,000 copies will be available to win through promotional McVitie’s Penguin packs sold in supermarkets nationwide.
A further 20,000 Google Play audiobooks will also be offered as prizes.
Shoppers can enter the competition from 3 August by purchasing one of the promotional packs, subject to availability at individual stores.
