A House of Commons Christmas hamper is on sale for £180, but it would be cheaper to buy items individually.

The festive treat has just gone on sale in the run-up to the big day.

It contains 13 items, including wine, jam and chocolate.

But the contents cost £150 if they were bought on their own.

So the House of Commons Deluxe Hamper is £30 more when bought together.

The only difference is that they come in a wooden box.

The hamper is for sale at The Houses of Parliament shop.

The most expensive item is Shortbread in a Tin, costing £22.

A Tea Bag Tin is £8, as is branded coffee and Ploughman’s Pickle and Strawberry and Rose Petal Jam are both £7.

It means customers have to pay £30 for the box, as reported on What’s The Jam.

The website reads: “Our Deluxe Hamper is a truly special gift for any occasion.

“It’s packed with a range of best-selling House of Commons gifts, from our ever-popular mint creams to coffee, tea, shortbread, preserves and more.

“Inside you will also find our wines, Merlot and Colombard Sauvignon, as well as keepsakes such as our green portcullis mug, waffle tea towel and champagne stopper.

“This set is presented in a wooden hamper box featuring the House of Commons logo. “

It adds: “Occasionally, we may run out of items that feature in our gift hampers.

“If this happens, we’ll let you know before dispatching your order and offer you a similar product of the same or greater value.“
