Families planning a trip to the seaside this August could cut the cost of reaching some of Britain’s less crowded beaches through a new Uber offer.
The travel company has launched the promotion following a summer marked by three widespread UK heatwaves and an increase in domestic holidays.
While temperatures are turning fresher at the end of July, the Met Office expects warm sunshine across southern areas this weekend.

Its longer-range forecast also suggests conditions could become hotter and more settled later in August, with further heat waves possible.
Uber’s new promotion will run throughout August and is intended to help passengers combine rail journeys with rides covering the final stretch between a station and the coast, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Customers must enter the code UberSeaside in the Uber app to access the offer.
Uber has not specified the precise value of the saving or any minimum fare, however, it does say the offer is valid for one UK Uber ride taken through a personal profile and cannot be combined with other promotions.

Holidaymakers should therefore check the terms displayed in their account after adding it and compare the final fare before confirming a journey.

The company has also not published a definitive list of qualifying beaches, while the availability of rides will depend upon Uber’s coverage in each coastal area.
To claim the offer, open the Uber app and select “Account”, followed by “Wallet” or “Payment”.
Customers should then scroll to “Promotions” rather than “Voucher”, tap “Add promo code” and enter UberSeaside.

The offer arrives during an exceptionally warm British summer.
By July 15, the UK had experienced more days exceeding 30C than during the whole of 1976, according to the Met Office.
It was also the first year on record in which temperatures reached 35C during May, June and July.
