A gateau superfan has celebrated the return of his favourite treat after he persuaded Morrisons to bring it back.
Matt Williams rejoiced when the supermarket giants informed him of the return of the festival gateau that had been taken off the shelves for the last few years.
At the time, the 26-year-old was frustrated after discovering that Morrisons was no longer selling the item.

In an effort to find out the reasoning behind this, Matt, of Nottinghamshire, contacted the supermarket’s customer service via Twitter (X).
They explained to Matt that the £3.50 was discontinued with the 26-year-old suspecting it be due to low demand.
Not being satisfied with the answer Matt began to pepper Morrisons with messages about the greatness of this particular gateau.
After months of campaigning, Matt began to reside in the fact that he may have to let his love for the treat go.
However, in July last year, he spotted his favourite Festival Gateau back on shelves at his local Morrisons.

Matt told What’s The Jam: “I was ecstatic, particularly as it felt like my childhood had been brought back to me.
“It’s funny how we associate foods with eras of our life, and this is my example of that.
“The day the Festival Gateaux returned to the shelves of my local Morrisons was a glorious one.

“I can only liken it to the triumphant return of a prodigal son, or perhaps the discovery of a forgotten stash of chocolate coins.
“A testament to the power of unwavering resolve and a love for all things spongy and delicious.
“The next time you find yourself facing a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, remember the tale of the Festival Gateau.
“With enough perseverance, even the dullest among us can achieve supermarket-related greatness.”
Morrisons were contacted by What’s The Jam for a comment.
A spokesperson for Morrisons stated: “We regularly review our ranges and remove certain lines but on this occasion, it looks like we made a mistake and lots of customers got in touch to ask us to bring back our Festival Gateau.
“We have listened to all this feedback and are pleased to say it is now back in our stores.”
