A clever mum turned her lounge into a Santa’s Grotto for just £8 – by putting Christmas wrapping paper on the walls
Naomi Trevitt spotted the cream and green nutcracker print paper in TK Maxx.
The transformation took Naomi just 90 minutes and one-and-a-half rolls of paper.

The 32-year-old had recently painted the room and was struggling to decide which finishing touches to add.
“I saw the wrapping paper and just knew it had to be used as wallpaper,” Naomi, from Wallasey, Merseyside, told What’s the Jam.
“It’s so nice and it would be a shame for it just to be ripped up and put in the bin.
“I had seen someone from America do it in their bathroom.
“I’d just painted the room a week before to freshen it up and couldn’t find any wallpaper I loved.

“When I spotted the paper, I realised I had nothing to lose, so I thought I’d give it a go.
“The paper looks amazing, and the little nutcrackers are so cute.
“It looks perfect, it looks like actual wallpaper. I’m in love with it.

“The room feels so Christmassy.”
The healthcare assistant now plans to keep decorating with wrapping paper and will switch up the designs every season to give the room a fresh new look for just a few pounds.
Altogether, the mum-of-one spent £6 on wrapping paper and £2 on double-sided tape.
Naomi added: “I used double-sided sticky tape.
“I followed the picture rail around the top of the wall and down the sides, and because wrapping paper print runs horizontally, it was really easy to work with.
“It was super easy to match the print, so it looks seamless.
“Then we put the tree up and it feels so cosy and festive.
“My family and guests love it.
“My husband is so used to my craziness, so when I suggested it, he told me to go for it.
“He actually really loves it, and so does my son.
“My son has asked me if I can do it every year.
“I think I will just change it every season as it’s so much cheaper than wallpaper.”
Naomi shared the hack on social media, and the post has racked up more than 112,000 views.

One pal said: “Absolutely love it, especially with it being a nutcracker.”
Someone else added: “No, stop, because my sister was actually going to buy Christmas wallpaper.
“I’m going to tell her to use wrapping paper now.
“So Christmassy.”
Another person said: “I love it.

“I don’t know why we all didn’t think of this before.”
A fourth person said: “Amazing idea, I love it.”
Someone else added: “I once wallpapered our chimney breast and the other half said it looked like a sh*tty wrapped Christmas present.

“This looks like you could keep it up all year.”
