Pizza Hut is offering nostalgic Brits the chance to pocket £1,973 – simply by digging out their old family photos.

The restaurant chain has launched a nationwide search for customers’ favourite memories as it celebrates the reopening of its flagship Marble Arch restaurant in London following a major refurbishment.

For millions of Brits, Pizza Hut was the go-to venue for birthday parties, school celebrations and trips to the famous all-you-can-eat salad bar throughout the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s.

Now diners are being invited to relive those memories for the chance to win cash, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The first 100 people to share a photo and the story behind it on social media using the hashtag #HutMemory before July 12 will receive a £19.73 Pizza Hut voucher – a nod to 1973, the year the chain opened its first UK restaurant.

Everyone awarded a voucher will also be entered into a prize draw to win a top cash prize of £1,973.

The competition has been launched to mark the reopening of Pizza Hut’s Marble Arch restaurant after what the company described as a “significant brand investment”.

The revamped site has been redesigned to combine modern interiors with what the company calls “the unmistakable Pizza Hut warmth guests have loved for decades.”

Pizza Hut UK chief marketing officer Jana Ulaite said: “For decades, our Marble Arch Hut has been a place where friends, families and loved ones have come together to share great food and make lasting memories.

“It’s an iconic restaurant for all of us, and this competition is a chance to give back to the people who’ve truly made it what it is.

“Feeding good times is what we do best, and we’ve been doing it since 1973, which is why we’re asking our diners to share their favourite Pizza Hut memories to bring the story of our UK heritage to life.”

The refurbishment forms part of Pizza Hut UK’s wider growth plans, with the company saying the investment reflects its confidence in the enduring popularity of dine-in restaurants.

Last year, Yum! Europe paid around £3.7million to acquire Pizza Hut’s UK dine-in operations.

The deal resulted in 79 restaurants closing while 64 sites were safeguarded, with approximately 1,254 employees transferring to the busines
