A historic ‘funeral cart’ dating back to the Victorian era is up for grabs on Facebook Marketplace for an eye-watering £1,400.

During the 19th century, the unique device was used to carry the coffins of those who were unable to afford a horse-drawn carriage.

According to Co-op Funeral Care, the cart costs twice as much as a painted coffin.

Featuring two fold-down wooden sides and a metal framed four-wheeled base with a steering level, this piece of history is truly one-of-a-kind.

The seller took to Facebook Marketplace to flog the bizarre antique.

The listing reads: “This has to be one of the strangest things we have ever put up for sale. It is VERY different!!”

The item was sourced after a local funeral direction, based in Wrexham, shut their doors.

The company, Timeless Furniture UK, also has a wide range of other historic listings, including church pews starting at £225 and vintage furniture dating back to the Edwardian and Victorian eras.
