Vanessa Nagel was at a thrift shop when she clapped eyes on a simple black dress.

In a TikTok that garnered 95,000 views, Vanessa shows off the thin silver strap with Gucci embossed on it, as well as a stitched label identifying the designer brand.
She says in the clip: “I don’t know what to say – I’m shaking!”
The plain black dress features thin leather spaghetti straps and a simple, classic silhouette, and had been priced at $29 (£21.58).
“Honestly, I was like ‘This probably isn’t real’,” Vanessa, a stylist in her 30s, told What’s The Jam.

“But I threw it in my cart anyway to investigate.

“I could not believe it was a Gucci Tom Ford 1998 dress.”
The Los Angeles-based shopper discovered that the dress had been a collaboration between the famous designer brands, and when she researched online, found it currently retailing for $4,000 (£2,976.84) by secondhand sellers.
Vanessa documented the find on TikTok with her, where the video racked up thousands of likes.
