A man has been left having to shower “three times” to get rid of the smell from the worst food he’s ever eaten – and it could be in your cupboards.
James Ellingsworth has set himself a challenge to eat strange and disgusting foods turned into jerky.
The content creator shares his taste tests with his 54,000 followers on Instagram (@james_ellingsworth), including his reactions, such as gagging or vomiting.

But his latest review has topped the list as the worst.
In a clip, racking up 9.2m views and 263,000 likes, he eats Surstrômming, a traditional Swedish delicacy made from fermented Baltic herring.
“It smelled like if you poured liquid ass on a dead raccoon,” the roofing sales company manager told What’s The Jam.

“I watched a number of videos of people trying it and struggling to get the can open, let alone eat it, because of how horrible they said it smelled.
“The smell was so bad that I had to wash my utensils with bleach, vinegar, and salt numerous times.

“I had to leave them in that combination for multiple days before it came out.”
In the video, James cracks open the Surströmming, and as the smell hits, he instantly begins gagging.
He has no choice but to step away to get a breath of fresh air.

Adding the fish to a buttered brioche roll, he gets ready to tuck in – only for the bite to be instantly spat out, accompanied by the sounds of gagging.
The Louisiana-based influencer can be heard saying: “That is by far the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tried in my life.
“I respect all cultures, but f*ck that, y’all can keep it.”
James believes that the tin of Surströmming he bought came rotten, as it was bulging before it was opened.
He said: “It tasted exactly how it smelled.
“As soon as it touched my tongue, I committed profusely.
“I also had to shower – lather, rinse, repeat twice – then brush my teeth about three times.
“It is by far the most disgusting thing I’ve ever eaten and I’ve had jellyfish jerky.”
Despite the taste, he’s up for trying it again.
Users have flocked to the comments to share their reactions.
Julia said: “8 gags later and was surprised it was disgusting.”

Another person added: “Flies and dry heaving? I’ll pass…. “
“I noticed I’m holding my breath just watching this. Also all the flies should be an indication. This is not meant for human consumption.” Shaunna commented.
One person confirmed James’ theory: “They’re supposed to be filets, not a soupy mess of flesh and bone.

“Your can was way expired, you can tell because of how bloated the can was from the gases caused by decomposition of the meat.
“You just ate rotten fish bro”
“It’s the sporadic gags mid-sentence for me,” someone else said.
