A woman who made headlines after ‘marrying’ a ghost has revealed she has divorced the spirit with an exorcism – after becoming fed up with him not pulling his weight around the house.
Brocarde, a singer and songwriter from Oxfordshire, fell in love with Edwardo – the ghost of a Victorian soldier – in late 2021 after he appeared in her home.
But after a rocky marriage marred with cheating allegations and him often ‘ghosting’ her for days on end, Brocarde has finally called it quits.

“It all got a bit too scary and I just couldn’t tame him, he kept on acting like a free spirit,” she told http://NeedToKnow.co.uk .
“He turned out to be a complete love rat.
“After our wedding he became obsessed with Marilyn Monroe, he was searching for her in the afterlife.
“He came home one morning after a graveyard rave and I smelt the scent of Chanel no.5 as he breezed past me, so maybe he found her?
“I mean, as they are both dead, they have much more in common and who am I to stand in the way of two lost souls finding each other?

“He was driving me mad anyway, our relationship was completely unstable, he was here today, gone tomorrow and he couldn’t even contribute to a mortgage – so a bit of a dead weight all round really.”
Without an official means to divorce a ghost, Brocarde had one option: to have an exorcism, which she underwent last month with a ‘trained professional’.

The singer said: “I didn’t know how to divorce a ghost, I didn’t want to get lawyers involved in case Edwardo ended up talking half of everything.
“So calling in an exorcist made more sense as I really wanted to do something symbolic to end our relationship and show that I no longer wanted to be haunted.
“It was necessary as he was really scaring and upsetting me, I wanted to remove him and his negative energy from around me.
“Honestly, [the exorcism] was the weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced in my whole life, even more weird than marrying a ghost!
“It was terrifying and harrowing and it was like purging a spirit out of my body, I was outside of myself, watching this horrific set of events unravelling and being unable to control anything.
“It was like being taken over by an outwardly force, it went on for what seemed like hours and I could feel my body resisting it and convulsing.
“Edwardo was taking over my body and refusing to leave, he was making me march like a solider and battle with the exorcist in a weird mental dual.
“When it was over I was crying and shaking and rolling around on the floor.
“I never want to experience anything like that again.”
Brocarde, who has penned a song about the divorce called ‘Just Another Anthem’, is now determined to steer clear of all ghosts.
She said: “I don’t even want to see a ghost again and if I do, I’ll be calling an exorcist immediately.
“The dead need to remain dead and not traumatise the living, even if I see a friendly ghost and he calls himself Casper, I’m running a mile because my experience with Edwardo has scarred me for life.
“I was curious about the afterlife and being open minded led me to embrace this crazy supernatural relationship.
“I always knew it had a limited life span, but I wanted to figure out what he wanted from me.
“The living can be annoying enough to date but at least you can get a restraining order, there isn’t much to protect you from an unruly spirit, it’s not like you can call ghost busters in the same way that you can call 999.”
