A video has been shared of the crazy moment an “idiot” driver “learned his lesson” – after getting stuck trying to cross crocodile-infested waters.
David McMahon, a safari tour guide, was out with a group when he spotted a vehicle approaching a dangerous river known for its powerful current.
Cahill’s Crossing – which is named after an explorer from the 1930s – is also known to be popular area for feisty reptiles to hang out.

But this didn’t seem to bother the driver.
In the clip – which has gone viral with over 807,000 views – the truck can be seen entering the water.
Moments later, the muddy waves are bashing up against the windows as the driver struggles to navigate the route.
“The crossing can take a minute or two to cross and when the tide is rushing in,” David, 36, from Australia, told What’s The Jam.
“There are hundreds of crocodiles in the river and late in the dry season they all head to the crossing to feast on fish.

“It’s certainly a very unique crossing and there is a chance you can get washed off if the water is too high.”
Cahill’s Crossing can found in the east section of the Alligator Rivers in Australia’s Northern Territory.
The state’s official website estimates that there are 100,000 saltwater crocodiles living in the wild.

In other words, odds are high that you might run into one if you get stuck in a river named after the reptile.
David added: “It’s all about experience and although this is a very dangerous crossing that has claimed several lives, if you know what you’re doing there is no problem.
“It’s definitely not your usual commute to work but give me this over traffic jams and stop lights any day!”
Thankfully, the lucky driver managed to escape without any injuries or crocodile encounters.
But the clip has left social media users stunned.
“Have a go at this idiot crossing the infamous Cahill’s Crossing on the East Alligator River! Luckiest fella around!,” the caption reads.
The clip has over 6,000 likes and hundreds of comments from users.
One person said: “His snorkel is working overtime.”
Someone else wrote: “Foolish.”
Another user added: “Absolute wombat!”
Charmaine said: “Total madness.”
Shane commented: “Holy. He’s so lucky.”
David later updated his post with another comment.
He added: “Update: I’ve just heard from the fella in the video and he knows it was a silly thing to do in retrospect and says he just had a moment of not thinking.
“He’s learnt his lesson and hopefully it’s a lesson to anyone else crossing Cahill’s, wait for the tide and don’t risk it.”
