A student was left screaming and “scared” after she pulled two whole fish out of her £4 Too Good To Go bag.

Millie Armstrong thought she knew what to expect when she picked up her order from Greens convenience store.

She was used to snapping up leftover pastries from Starbucks via the app, which lets users buy cheap unsold food.

But after deciding to opt for groceries instead of sweet treats, the 20-year-old was given the shock of her life.

After unpacking a Rustlers burger, a chicken sandwich, a loaf of bread, coronation chicken and stir-fry veggies, she discovered not one, but two whole smoked mackerel.

Initially mistaking the seafood for a sausage, Millie, from Angus, Scotland, burst out laughing.

But after spotting the fish, she yelped and threw it across her car.

“The contents were split between two bags, so I felt that I had already got my money’s worth, and was excited to see what I got,” Millie, who studies primary education and works part-time in retail, told What’s The Jam.

“As I was opening the bags, I could see the metallic packaging, and at first, I thought it was a smoked sausage, hence why I was laughing.

“Then I looked in the camera and saw it was a fish and got a fright, and my first instinct was to throw it.”

Split across two bags, the haul was worth around three times what Millie paid.

And instead of chucking the fish out, she decided to give it to her grandma, a fish fan with the skills to cook it just right.

Millie’s reaction quickly became a viral hit after she shared the moment on TikTok.

It racked up more than 150,000 views.

She added: “This was the first time I received something this odd and have never seen anyone else receive fish.

“Everyone I showed the video to had thought that my reaction to the fish was funny, but also the fact that I got the fish was funny, so I decided to post it, hoping that others would also find it funny.

“I thought it would maybe get a few more likes and views than usual, but didn’t expect it to go as viral as it did.

“It’s definitely one for the books – not your typical Too Good To Go haul! I’m just glad it all went to good use.

“At the end of the day, it’s great knowing nothing went to waste and that I got a proper bargain, even if it did come with a bit of a fright.”

Jam Press has approached Greens for comment.
