A menu signed by the eight Manchester United players who died in the Munich air disaster is set to sell for £2,000.

The side – known as the Busby Babes – stayed at the Norbreck Hydro Hotel ahead of a match again Blackpool.

Their stay on March 23, 1956 was just under two years before the tragedy.

The dinner menu – which includes Supreme de Sole Marguery and Langue de Boeuf Fleuriste – has 13 autographs on the back.

They are from manager Matt Busby, plus players Geoff Bent, Tommy Taylor, Duncan Edwards and Mark Jones.

Others include David Pegg, Eddie Colman, Roger Byrne, Roy Wood, Denis Viollet, Billy Whelan and three more.

Tragically Edwards, Taylor, Byrne, Whelan, Colman, Jones, Pegg and Bent died in the plane crash in the German city on February 6, 1958.

The menu is being sold by Ewbank’s in Woking, Surrey on November 20.

It is the prime lot in its Sports Memorabilia auction, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The listing reads: “Manchester United Busby Babes Signed Menu.

“Norbreck Hydro A la carte Dinner Menu dated Friday, 23rd March, 1956.

“With 13 autographs on reverse by: Matt Busby, Geoff Bent, Tommy Taylor, Duncan Edwards, Mark Jones, David Pegg, Eddie Colman, Roger Byrne, Roy Wood, Denis Viollet, Whelan and others.

“The Manchester United Busby Babes stayed at the Norbreck Hydro Hotel on March 23, 1956, in preparation for their match against Blackpool.

“The hotel served an à la carte dinner menu for the team, a rare memento from the era of Sir Matt Busby’s young and talented squad.

“The menu, dating to the early days of the Busby Babes’ rise, is cherished by collectors and football historians as it marks a period when Manchester United’s legendary youth team was just beginning to make a significant impact on English football.”

Other items being sold include a signed Pele book set to go for £2,000 as well.
