Football stars arrived for a match while apparently kitted out in the captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro’s famous grey tracksuit.
The RCD Mallorca squad seemed to be making a bold statement as they rocked up in the Nike sweats ahead of their La Liga match against Girona.
Mallorca, currently languishing in the relegation zone, were beaten 1-2 at their home ground, the Son Moix Stadium, on Sunday (4 Jan).

The match took place just hours after the US military seized Venezuelan leader Maduro from his compound in the capital Caracas.
President Trump posted a photo of Maduro wearing a grey Nike fleece while bound and blindfolded on board the USS Iwo Jima.
Eagle-eyed netizens noticed that the deposed dictator’s attire bore a striking similarity to the tracksuits worn by the Mallorca players.
The garments even had the same collar and black trim.
A video of the team arriving at the stadium in the tracksuits went viral on Instagram with 2.5m views, as reported by What’s The Jam.

One fan said: “The toughest tracksuit in the league.”

“Nike Maduro,” added Jose.
Valero joked: “Give the marketing manager a raise.”

“They’re missing the number 9, he’s lost in NYC,” added Adrian.
Edwin said: “I’m a Barca fan, but they’ve already won my heart hahaha.”

However, the Mallorca squad in fact were not making a political gesture by wearing the tracksuits.
It is common to see the team arrive in the grey sports gear ahead of matches.
Nicolás Maduro, 63, and his wife Celia Flores, 69, appeared in a court in New York on drug trafficking charges on Monday.
The captured couple pleaded not guilty as Maduro insisted that they were “kidnapped” by the US authorities.
