A woman has revealed the struggles of dating as a tall woman and claims that it’s made worse as men “constantly lie” about their heights on dating apps.
As Saranya Kari began dating eight months ago, she vowed to always be honest about her height while looking for Mr Right – as she stands at six feet tall.
The 26-year-old hoped that the same transparency would be met while joining the dating app, Hinge.

She claims that her previous ex-boyfriends, who were shorter, used to “hate” not having the attention on them and since then, the student has decided to only date people taller than her.
And now, she’s struggling with finding the right match – saying that people often lie about their height and are shocked to see how tall she is in the flesh.
“I started thinking I was going to have to settle for someone shorter than me or someone my height because of how many times I got let down,” Saranya, from Texas, US, told What’s The Jam.
“At first, I was very frustrated and felt defeated.
“When you are dating behind a screen, anything can be lied about.

“I have lost track of how many times a man has claimed they are taller than six foot and then I show up and realise they are not.
“And what is funny is that they try to convince me that I am taller than this and they are actually the ones that are [this height].
“So basically, they are trying to call me the liar.”

But, according to Soraya, it’s quite the opposite – with men often fibbing about their own heights.
She said: “I [once] matched with someone who claimed he was over six foot.
“He was also cute, so I decided to go on the date.
“I show up and I am looking around for this guy, but then someone approaches me and he was 5ft 10 at best.
“He looked shocked and said: ‘Oh wow, I didn’t expect you to actually be this tall’.
“I was genuinely confused because on Hinge I have it stated as six foot for my height.
“The rest of the night he tried to convince me he was six foot – or that he was six foot if he wore the right shoes.
“Honestly, I should have left after realising he lied to me.
“It’s hard being this tall, and female, trying to date.”
Growing up, she hated her height due to comments from her peers in school – who were often shorter.
But now, she’s learned to embrace it and won’t settle until she’s found the right match.
Saranya added: “I hated my height because as a female I stood out like a sore thumb.
“Honestly, as much as they [shorter men] claim to love being with a taller woman, they actually were insecure about it.
“I actually started to hunch myself, because it made me insecure that my height drew so much attention and my partners didn’t like it.
“I have also gotten hate, but a majority, to maybe all, the negativity is from men.
“They call me a liar, they say that I am a hypocrite, they say I should stay single.
“It bothered me at first, but now I am not phased by it at all.
“The positives really do outweigh the negatives.
“Now, I love my height.
“I love every inch of it – in heels and without heels.”
Saranya shared her frustrations with dating on TikTok, (@tulasi_kari), racking up over 312,000 views and 23,000 likes.
In the clip, Saranya explained how she went on a date with a man who claimed he was six feet tall and told her followers how she can tell in person when a man falls short of his claims.
Users have flocked to the comments to share their reactions, with many people revealing their own, similar, experiences.
Flower said: “I’m 5’10. Every guy I’ve dated thought they were 6′ and they were always shorter than me. Total boy math. Humbled pretty quickly standing side by side.”
Another user commented: “Same!!!! I’m 5’10” and my sister is 6’4″ & men are personally & thoroughly offended by our existence.”
“It’s not the height. I don’t care. It’s the LYING about it, shows bad character,” someone else added.

Clara added: “I’m 6ft even. I used to tell guys I was 5’10 so that I could see their little hearts break when I tower over them.”
