An unassuming cottage is up for sale in the Scottish countryside – but budding buyers will get a shock when they step inside.

Located in a former fishing village –Ardersier, Inverness – the property has plenty of potential… but be prepared to get your hands dirty.

While the exterior is fairly standard, the inside features a big mess – with rooms filled with rubbish and sunken ceilings.

The walls are covered in colourful graffiti, from spray-painted stars to cherries and devils.

Each room is also laden with what is likely the previous owner’s belongings – so if you’re in need of a few extra t-shirts, a collection of teacups or dilapidated furniture, you’re in luck.

The kitchen resembles a hoarder’s paradise, with cupboards left open and various items strewn across the floor.

The loo looks like on its last legs – with peeling walls and a bathtub filled with rubble.

There is also a garden, though it better resembles a jungle at the moment with overgrown plants and a broken fence.

The home is currently deemed “uninhabitable” according to the ad.

However, it could be a great DIY project for the right person.

As for the __cpLocation, the property overlooks Moray Firth, a triangular inlet in the North Sea.

And it’s just three miles from Inverness Airport, with potential to turn it into a holiday home.

The local area is also said to be undergoing a transformation.

It could also be the perfect fixer-upper for a young family, with four schools close by – the nearest spanning just 0.2 miles from your doorstep.

The property is set to be sold via auction by Auction House Scotland with a guide price of £75,000.

It has not had any tests of fittings or equipment, and is currently deemed ‘unsafe’, reports What’s The Jam.

But with some TLC, a few hundred rolls of bin bags and an abundance of skips, the cottage could become your very own retreat.
