A collection of rare Elvis Presley trading cards have been discovered in a long-abandoned home.

The almost perfect set, which could sell for around $1,500 (£1,180) if complete and in mint condition, was discovered in a dilapidated property in the middle of an overgrown field in Ontario, in the US.

The cards, which date back to 1956, were issued by Topps, an American company that manufactures trading cards and other collectibles.

And while some were bent and chewed by mice, others were in near perfect condition.

Photographer Dave, who is known online as Freaktography, made the discovery after he was sent an address to the property by his daughter’s boyfriend Shane.

“I was exploring the backroads of Ontario and I pulled up outside one of those small, pioneer-style homes,” Dave told What’s The Jam.

“I climbed through a window and upstairs there was a box on the floor that was mostly filled with plaster from the ceiling and random debris.

“But there were also some old trading cards inside the box that caught my eye.

“As I reached in the box, pulling out more and more of these cards, I noticed a theme – they all seemed to have Elvis Presley on them.

“There was an almost complete collection of Elvis Presley trading cards from 1956.”

Dave, from Ontario, in the US, said while the house was in disarray, there were still remnants of life among its walls, with beds in the bedrooms, a clock on the wall and dishes in the sink and cupboards.

He says the property was abandoned a long time ago.

Dave added: “It was an interesting house for a quick visit, upstairs was scattered with children’s toys and clothing.

“The remaining furniture was torn and shredded from the many years of animals using it for nests and the floors were littered with raccoon poop.”
