A woman has revealed that she paid over £1m to live next to bin bags full of rubbish but says she has zero regrets.

Michelle Trinh didn’t let the sight deter her from the one-bed apartment.

The 40-year-old snapped it up for an eye-watering £552,000 and pays £950 per month on taxes and service charge.

In total, she believes it’s cost her over £1m to date, including renovations.

But in a clip, which has racked up 2.8m views and over 181,000 likes, she reveals her apartment with a poignant message.

“It doesn’t matter where you live, but how you live,” the marketing executive told What’s The Jam.

“When I first moved in, there were a few small mice that made their way inside due to ongoing construction.

“Fortunately, they weren’t rats.

“But I handled it with humane live traps and released them in a nearby park.

“I’ve not had any issue with mice since then.

“If anything, they’re completely unheard of in the building.

“When people walk in, they get a true sense of who I am.

“Most guests enter through the upper level – and don’t even realise the lower entrance is there.”

In the clip, Michelle is shown walking through a dimly lit hallway where bin bags full of rubbish are piled high.

She turns to face her front door and enters into a cosy Parisian paradise.

The post was captioned: “No I don’t have a rat or roach problem.

“No it doesn’t smell from the trash.”

Users have flocked to the comments to share their reactions.

“I mean depends cuz them rats and roaches be creeping in,” one person said.

Someone else said: “Next to every three bins of trash is always a hidden gem.”

Maranda added: “I really love this type of stuff. True definition of do not judge a book by its cover.”

Another viewer said: “Too close to the garbage and the bin is open. Cmon”

“I don’t care how nice it looks. On garbage days those roaches and rats will be jumping all over your beautiful bed. And don’t let someone in the building get bed bags,” one person commented.

Michelle, who lives in the West Village of New York City, purchased the apartment in 2019.

She had dreamed of living in the area for years, but wasn’t able to afford a turnkey place.

After putting her own touch on the abode, Michelle has no plans to move.

She added: “I feel confident that I’ve regained the equity and I have no regrets.

“I love that I truly made it my own without worrying about the resale value or other people’s opinions.”
