A converted train carriage dating back to the 1880s is up for sale in the UK’s only desert – but buying it could prove challenging.
Remember the fisherman’s cottage that was straight out of a Wes Anderson movie, based in the Dungeness headland on the coast of Kent?
Well, now’s your chance to get your hands on a similar property – and this time you could be living in your very own piece of Kentish History.

The home in question is a converted train carriage from the 1880s and is situated in Britain’s own desert.
The house has three bedrooms and is one of about 30 railway carriages in the British desert, reports What’s The Jam.
Kitted out with chic furniture and decadent decor, you even have a window view of the iconic lighthouse, alongside being right next to the English Channel.
The master bedroom even has its own bathroom, and the two further bedrooms are well-sized, too.
As well as having picturesque views surrounding the property, a conservatory and garden are on offer alongside space for parking two cars.

The catch? It’s priced at £875,000 – and a mortgage is unlikely to cut it.
The listing reads: “Please note that we are unaware of any lenders providing mortgages on this type of house at the present time.”
But if you do have the money spare, the area of Dungeness is brimming with history and is loved by a few famous faces including Ed Sheeran.

In fact, artist Derek Jarman’s former home, Prospect Cottage, is only a short walk away from the carriage.
The property is currently available with The Modern House, London.
