A British explorer has uncovered “super creepy” abandoned MOD barracks – and says the experience was “atmospheric”.

Chloe Urbex, 23, has made a name for herself online for exploring eerie sites, including abandoned hospitals, horror museums, and derelict race tracks.

But her latest discovery, just a few weeks ago in London, was something special – a modular barracks left to rot for 50 years.

“It has been abandoned for 50 years due to the building not being modern enough,” Chloe, from England, told What’s The Jam.

“They then built another a couple of miles down the road and left this to crumble.

“It was super creepy. It was pitch black.

“The corridors were creaking throughout the time there.

“It was a very atmospheric explore.”

They’re designed to be quick to assemble, cost-effective, and provide temporary or semi-permanent accommodation for deployments, training sites, or bases.

But this one had clearly been left behind.

Chloe shared her find on Instagram, showing the rotting, dirt-strewn building.

Her pictures reveal peeling ceilings and walls, broken windows, decaying stairs, and unused storage.

She also spotted keys, electricity boxes, big red buttons, toilets, old signs – including one that read: “Quiet please, night duty staff sleeping.”

The post, captioned Abandoned MOD Barracks in the South East of England, attracted hundreds of likes.

Fans were quick to react.
