An artist’s optical illusion aims to transform the way people see the world.

Rich McCor came up with the idea in a bid to be “different” from other photographers in the UK capital, rather than trying to be better than them.

The 36-year-old shares his unique lens with over 513,000 followers on his Instagram (@paperboyo).

He’s transformed the London Eye into a woman on a bicycle, and the infamous “Gherkin” building into a penguin – giving the middle finger.

But it’s not just the UK where he’s brought his creativity.

He’s turned the oceans of Northern Ireland into a lady’s wedding dress and given the Statue of Liberty dupe in Las Vegas two F1 friends.

In one clip, which has racked up 1.9m views and over 7,000 likes, Rich reveals how his optical illusion works.

He visits Hong Kong, more specifically the Xiqu Centre.

To give it a spooky effect for Halloween, he holds up a piece of paper with a detailed drawing of Dracula on it.

Rich’s careful placing and aim with the lens produces a final snap, which makes it look like the vampire is the head of the building.

But how long does it take to craft each masterpiece?

“Most of the time spent on these ideas is behind the scenes,” the content creator, who lives in Brighton, told What’s The Jam.

“Or coming up with ideas, researching the locations to find the right architecture and vantage points for what will work best.

“That’s the hard part.

“The fun part is travelling to the destinations, taking the photos and showing those passing by what I’m up to.

“There’s obviously an element of editing too, but I try to retain the original style which was to keep it as simple as just holding up a paper cut-out and taking a photo.”

His creativity has allowed him to quit his job and pursue photography full time.

He added: “I began photography as an excuse to explore London.

“About a year after picking up a camera, I eventually landed on the concept of using paper cut-outs to transform the skyline.

“It’s taken me to every corner of the world and allowed me to work with brands like Coca-Cola, McLaren, Microsoft and others.”
