A pilot stunned his daughter and new son-in-law by secretly piloting their flight home from their Cancun honeymoon.
Captain John Arvin was asked by his daughter, Addison Stock, to “pick them up from the airport” after her romantic trip away.
But instead of just meeting them at the gate, he took it literally – and flew the plane himself.

Photos shared by Southwest Airlines on Facebook on Saturday (30 Aug) captured Addison’s emotional reaction when she realised her dad wasn’t just at the airport – he had piloted the flight, as reported by What’s The Jam.
One image showed the tearful embrace between father and daughter, while another photo from years earlier showed them together in the cockpit when Addison was a child.
The airline captioned the post: “POV: Your dad’s a Pilot and you weren’t clear when you asked him to pick you up from the airport…



“In the dad move of the century, Captain John was able to pilot their flight home from their honeymoon, resulting in one of the best surprises we’ve seen!”
The story has gone viral, with more than 170,000 Facebook users reacting and praising Captain John’s legendary dad skills.

Southwest also shared a wedding photo showing Captain John, based in Arizona, US, walking Addison down the aisle – a touching moment echoed by his surprise in the cockpit weeks later.
Southwest Airlines has not provided further comment on the flight.
