A frantic fox has been freed after he got his head wedged between two posts.
The animal was spotted after a resident noticed their dog sniffing around the same spot in their back garden for several days.
The fox appeared weak and distressed so RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) Freya Norton quickly attended the house.

Freya initially put a towel over the animal’s head and used a grasper to try and lift him out.
But he was too tightly wedged in, as reported by Need To Know.
She then used a car jack at the top of the fence to carefully open up the space, allowing the fox room to wriggle out.
Fortunately, the fox only sustained minor grazes to its neck and no serious injuries.
After a once-over from Freya, the fox was safely released in a nearby forest.

It is not known how long the fox had been stuck for in Eccles, Gtr Mancs.
Freya said: “It’s always a relief when we can free an animal without causing them further distress.
“This fox was very lucky – being trapped like that could have ended very differently if it hadn’t been spotted.

“Thankfully, despite the ordeal it was bright and alert, and we were able to get there in time and safely release it back into the wild where it belongs.”
