Staff at a care home in Cornwall have helped reunite a missing cat with its owners – months after it disappeared and became a regular at the home.

Team members at Kenwyn Care Home in Truro had spotted the black and white moggy lingering around for “some months”.

The cat became a frequent face on the grounds, entertaining staff and residents and showing up on a daily basis.

The male cat enjoyed a special bond with staff member Holly, taking to sitting on her knee when she went outside for a break, reports What’s The Jam.

After “some months” of visits, Holly decided to find out if he had a microchip in case he had a family missing him.

She took him to the vets last week and was stunned when an owner came forward to claim ‘Diamond’.

They discovered he was a nine-year-old cat and had been missing from his home in Falmouth – 11 miles away – since before Christmas.

A spokesperson for Kenwyn, part of the Barchester Healthcare group, said: “Many, many happy tears followed.

“His owner had given up all hope of ever seeing him again and was overwhelmed when she got the call.

“Diamond recognised his owner straight away and he even has a feline brother who has been pining for him, whom he is now of course reunited with.

“Holly handed him over but was understandably quite sad to say goodbye.
“His family have passed on their thanks to those kind souls at Kenwyn who looked out for this lucky boy.

“We don’t know how Diamond found his way from Falmouth to Kenwyn but we think he had heard he’d be in safe hands.”
