A mother whale has been filmed swimming with her little calf in what was called a “very rare” sighting

The drone clip shows the two adult fins side-by-side in the crystal blue water.

The mummy circles around to follow her calf from behind and is seen breaching the surface to shoot water out of her blowhole.

It is extremely rare to see mother and calf together.

Fin whales are the second-largest whale species in the world after the blue whale.

The incredible clip was filmed by a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone off the Italian island of Asinara near Sardinia.

The footage was filmed by a skipper of the Asinara Charter excursion company.

A company spokesperson said: “There are moments in life that remain forever etched in your memory, and what we recently experienced is one of them.

The video was shared on Instagram where it garnered 101,000 views and hundreds of comments, as reported on What’s the Jam.
