A rare bear has taken a ‘selfie’ in the woods before coolly ambling off.
The furry beast came across a hidden camera before giving it a good sniff.
The spectacled bear then grabs it with both paws and peers into the lens.

It managed to take at least one usable selfie before continuing its stroll through the jungle.
The photogenic creature was captured on film near San Vicente del Caguán in Amazonian Caquetá, southern Colombia.
The camera was set up by 50 farming families and members of the local bear footprints monitoring club with the support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Colombian conservationist Mauricio Vela Vargas said: “The camera system is very important.
“We consider these initiatives, set up by the local community, to be a success story in the conservation of endangered species.”

Spectacled bears, also known as Andean bears, are the only species of bear found in Colombia.
They are native to the Andes mountain range in northern and western South America.
Spectacled bears are at risk of extinction and categorised as ‘vulnerable’ on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

As well as the camera system, local environmentalists have also arranged for the conservation of 13,000 hectares of forest and the planting of native flora considered important for the bears’ survival.
The success of the programme so far has seen a number of spectacled bears returning to the region, as reported by What’s the Jam.
