A mummy bear to be tranquilized by rangers so they could rescue her little cub that was trapped in a wire fence.

Wildlife officials noticed that the concerned mother was watching her cub from up a nearby tree.

Footage shows a wildlife officer aiming a tranquiliser rifle at the adult bear before firing off a dart.

With the large bear neutralised, rangers proceeded to rescue the cub “without worrying about her interfering”.

A dramatic video shows rangers cutting the wire fencing before restraining the grunting cub with a catchpole.

The rescue took place in the woods outside of Evergreen, near Denver, Colorado, US.

A Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) spokesperson said: “Kids can get into everything, even bear cubs.”

They said the mother was “unable to help free her cub”.

“That’s where we step in to lend a hand.”.

They added: “We use a catchpole on the cub to make sure it doesn’t further hurt itself while the officers cut all the wiring away.

“The cub isn’t making happy sounds, but soon it will be free and much better.”

After reuniting the cub with its woozy mother, wildlife officers chased the pair away with their dogs to make sure they don’t return to the same area.

“We have to make sure the mom and her cub won’t come back to the dangerous fencing by accident.

“We use our K9 Officer Samson to help haze them from the area.”

A video shows the dog “locking in” and barking at the bears to make sure they scurry away.

The wildlife agency said it was “a complicated rescue with a happy ending”, as reported by What’s the Jam.
