A mum was left ‘howling’ after a t-shirt she bought from Temu came with a very awkward mistake.

Courtney Couper splashed out £3.96 on the cute custom tee for her son.

She had hoped his name would be printed on the front, with the back left blank.

But it appears someone in the printing department took the instruction literally.

When the cake decorator opened up the parcel, the private note to the seller was written in big bold letters.

“I was in shock,” Courtney told What’s The Jam.

“At the time of writing that message to the seller, I actually laughed to myself thinking, imagine if they printed this message on the back.

“I never thought they actually would; I thought my instructions were really obvious.

“I was a little disappointed at first – but I couldn’t help but be amused.

“I still have it, more as a joke. My son can wear it around home.”

Courtney, from Ahipara, New Zealand, said she had left a message explaining she wanted nothing on the back, as the website wouldn’t let her check out without filling in both boxes.

But rather than following her instructions, the seller seemingly copied them word-for-word onto the fabric – leaving the shirt looking more like a joke than a personalised gift.

Luckily, Temu refunded her the money in full after she raised the mistake.

The mum-of-three said she hasn’t been put off shopping with the bargain site, as most of her previous custom orders have gone smoothly.

But she warned other parents to be careful when ordering personalised products – or risk ending up with a blunder that will have everyone in stitches.

She said, “Before adding to the card, you are required to write what you want on the front and the back.

“There was no option of leaving the back blank, as it wouldn’t let you add it to the cart unless you wrote what you wanted, hence why I left a message to the seller.

“I love Temu. I’ve ordered a lot of personalised items in the past and they’ve been great.

“But I probably would avoid ordering custom items if you want to leave the front or back blank.

“I don’t think a real person is reading your orders; it must be a machine.”

A spokesman for Temu said, “We want to thank Courtney for placing the order. We understand it didn’t meet her expectations and appreciate the good humour she brought to the situation. She was given a full refund, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve her again in the future.

“Customers are covered by our 90-day money-back guarantee for items that are not as described. Our customer service team is available 24/7 to help with any post-sale concerns.”
